DETERMINING PARAGON MODELS

Determining the correct model number of any inboard boat transmission can be a real task.  In this section we will try to give you information to make the task easier.  Ideally locating the factory tag which supplies not only the model number but the gear ratio and serial number as well is best.  Generally all Paragon tags were located on the top of the transmission usually close to the shift lever.  Older manual type units with a side
mounted shift lever also had the tags on top of the case

The P-200, P-300 and P-400 Series Paragon units are now the most common Paragons still in service along with some PM, PMB and PL Series.
Other hydraulic operated Paragons are the HB, HF and HJ Series. Paragon also made a hydraulic transmission with the name "Owens" on it.
Manually operated Paragon transmissions include the SA, XK, XE and G300 Series units.
